I was born, grew up and still live in Australia’s capital, Canberra. My early years were spent reading, riding horses, reading, going to school, more reading and generally enjoying an idyllic childhood. As an adult I switched to reading, completing a performance degree on clarinet, reading, traveling Europe with my husband, reading, bringing up two children, teaching and playing clarinet and yes, more reading.
With the children growing, I switched yet again, this time incorporating Tai Chi and writing into the music and reading schedule. With the children gone I have more time for reading and even more time for writing.

My call from Avalon wasn't a call but an email. I'd had the manuscript of The Right Chord (then called Leopard Spots) with them for ages and ages--over a year. The editor at the time said "we love it but can't fit it in to our schedule at the moment. We'll get back to you."
At this end we decided they wouldn't say that if they didn't intend to make an offer but . . .more months passed. Then I checked my email one morning in November 2006. They loved it -- release date April 2007, contract to follow in the mail.
